What rod weight should I bring?

A 5 weight will be your best all around rod for all waters and fish species. 4-6 weight rods are commonly used for cutthroat and it is recommended to use 5-8 weights for targeting Bull Trout.

I wish to bring my own flies, what patterns work?

You are more than welcome to bring your own flies. Please note that our rivers require us to fish with single, barbless hooks. If you are alright with pinching the barbs on your personal collection, feel free to bring your own. We recommend bringing these basic patterns: assortment of Mayfly patterns (Green Drakes, BWO’s), Terrestrials (hoppers, ants, beetles), Big Foam dries, and Streamers. Recommended sizes are 8-14 for dry flies and nymphs.

What does my trip include?

  • Flies for the day, tippet, leaders, etc.
  • Home-style lunches, and nonalcoholic drinks
  • Our expertise and experience in fly fishing the local waters
  • Transportation to and from your accommodations
  • Full-day floats or walk and wade trips
  • Rods can be provided upon request
  • Accommodation/meals are included on multi-day lodge trips

What are the walk and wade trips like?

Most of our walk and wade trips are in remote, harder to reach areas that sometimes require the use of steep trails and bushwhacking. A good level of mobility and physical fitness is strongly recommended for these trips. However, we do have a selection of easier walk and wade trips and can tailor your trip to meet every age and physical ability of angler. If you decide to bring your own wading boots please ensure they are felt soled, clean, dry, and no cleats in the drift boats or rafts as they can damage the floor of the boats.

What size leaders and tippet should I bring?

If you wish to use your own collection of leaders/tippet we recommend bringing a range from 0x-5x. Newer leaders are recommended as well as UV damages the line and run the risk of losing the “big one”.

What should I bring?

  • Rod (can be provided if requested in advance)
  • Leaders/Tippet (If you prefer to bring and use your own leaders and tippet: 3-5x recommended for cutthroat and 0-2x recommended for bull trout)
  • Flies (Flies are supplied but you are welcome to bring your own)
  • Waders
  • Wading Boots (felt soles will need to be properly cleaned and dried & studded boots will not be permitted in drift boats)
  • Rain Coat
  • Hat and Sunglasses (polarized recommended)
  • Sunscreen
  • Alcohol (our lodge is not licensed to sell – guest must bring their own)
  • Toiletries (for lodge)
  • Bathing suit (hot tub use for multi-day lodge guests)
  • Although water is supplied on fishing trips, it is much more environmentally friendly to bring your own water bottle
